This handsome agate cameo is British in origin. The carving is outstanding and the attention to detail inspired. The subject is most likely a British statesman and the cameo commissioned by a loved one. It is a locket which may have held a memento of that person. The frame is 15kt gold and is embellished with golden orchids. In addition the frame is enameled black with gold polka dots. It measures 2” x 1 ½”. Male cameos are rare and this one belongs in a Museum. Circa 1880
